Think back to the last goal you set and quietly abandoned.
The gym membership. The side hustle. The book you were going to write. You meant it at the time. So what happened?
Here is the uncomfortable answer. You probably did not want it badly enough. Not because you are weak or lazy, but because the goal never had a deep enough reason underneath it to survive the first hard day.
Now that you have started working on the way you speak to yourself, it is time to give your energy a clear direction. Because even when your mindset is improving and your self-talk is becoming kinder, your energy can still feel scattered if it does not know where it is going. Today we fix that. Not with the usual goal-setting, but by digging into the one thing that actually keeps you moving. Your why.

Your energy needs somewhere to point. Without a clear goal, even a positive, well-rested mind drifts. You feel busy but not purposeful. Motivated in bursts, then flat. A goal gives your chi a direction to flow toward, and that direction is what turns scattered effort into momentum.
But here is the catch. Most goals are set at a superficial level, which is exactly why they collapse. This is the classic new-year resolution, decided a week before the year ends and forgotten by the end of January. It is why gyms are packed in the first two months and empty by March.
People see someone with a fit body online and decide, without really thinking, that they want the same thing. They aim to shed twenty pounds without ever asking why those twenty pounds matter to them. So when things get hard, when the muscles ache, when the schedule is full, when there is less time to unwind, there is nothing underneath to hold them steady. And they quit.
Here are some of the usual surface-level goals:
• "I want more money."
• "I want to quit my job and travel the world."
• "I want time and financial freedom."
There is nothing wrong with any of these. But without a deep-level why beneath them, they do not generate enough emotional charge to sustain action when challenges arrive. A goal without a why is a wish. And a wish does not move your chi.

When your why is strong enough, the how tends to reveal itself. This is not wishful thinking. It is simply how motivation works. A shallow reason produces shallow effort, easily knocked over. A deep reason produces a kind of quiet stubbornness that carries you through the days you would rather do nothing.
The problem is that most people never dig for the deep reason, because digging is uncomfortable and slow. It is far easier to grab the surface goal and run. So we are going to do the uncomfortable, valuable thing instead. We are going to dig until we hit something that actually holds emotional weight, using an exercise called the 7 Levels of Why.
The method is simple to describe and surprisingly hard to do. First, choose a goal that genuinely matters to you. Then ask "why" seven times. At each new level, you ask why of the answer you just gave, going one layer deeper each time.
Let me walk you through it with a real example. The starting goal is, "I want to start an online business that replaces my full-time salary."
Level 1. Why do you want that? Because I want to be able to quit my job.
Level 2. Why is quitting your job important to you? Because I feel stuck and unfulfilled at work.
Level 3. Why does feeling stuck and unfulfilled matter to you? Because it makes me feel like I am wasting my life and my potential.
Level 4. Why is wasting your life and potential painful for you? Because I do not want to look back one day and regret the things I never did.
Level 5. Why does that regret scare you? Because it would mean I did not live life on my own terms. And I only get one life.
Level 6. Why is living life on your own terms important to you? Because freedom lets me be present, healthy, and emotionally available for myself and my family.
Level 7. Why does being present and available for your family matter so much? Because I want to feel proud of the life I lived and give the best version of myself to the people I love.
Now pause and look at the distance between the first answer and the last. The goal began as "I want to quit my job." By the seventh level it had become "I want to feel proud of the life I lived and serve the people I love to my fullest." Those are two completely different fuels. One runs dry in a fortnight. The other can carry you for years.

If you actually do this exercise, you will notice it is tiring. Good. It is supposed to be. The effort is the point, because it forces you to think honestly about why a goal truly matters instead of skating along the surface.
Most people find it hard to reach the seventh level and run out somewhere around level four or five. That is completely fine. The rule is simple. The deeper you go, the more powerful your why becomes, and the more likely you are to keep going when things get difficult. Even reaching level four honestly puts you far ahead of the person who never asked why at all.
So before you rush off to set five shiny new goals, slow down. Look at a goal you already have and ask the harder question. Why does this really matter to me? Sit with it. Let the answer surprise you.

Finding the deep why behind your goals gives your energy a direction it can commit to. And that is one half of a much bigger picture.
Inside Chi Manifestation, this goal work is one piece of a complete system. On its own, a powerful why turns scattered effort into steady momentum. Combined with everything else we teach, it becomes the foundation for a genuinely different way of living.
Here is why both sides are needed. Your physical environment carries its own energetic charge. Arranged well, it creates the conditions for luck and opportunity to flow toward you. But if your inner state is misaligned, with no clear direction and a why too shallow to hold you, those opportunities arrive and pass right by. Unnoticed, or quietly abandoned the moment things get hard. You can set your space up perfectly and still let what it sends you slip away, simply because your inner world has nowhere to point it.
That is the argument at the heart of the Inner and Outer Feng Shui System. It brings together over 5,000 years of ancient Chinese energetic wisdom with modern, science-backed psychology, developed by a second-generation Feng Shui master from Singapore and a certified psychotherapist and counsellor. Most programmes work on one side. This one works on both. Because one without the other only gets you halfway.

Here is your assignment, and it matters more than it looks. Before you go any further, set at least one Big Goal and run it through the 7 Levels of Why. Choose something that genuinely matters, then dig, one level at a time, until you hit a reason with real emotional weight.
This is not busywork. Everything that comes next in your inner work builds on top of a goal that means something to you. Skip it and the rest floats without an anchor. Do it properly and you give your chi a direction strong enough to survive the hard days, the busy weeks, and every moment you feel like quitting.
You do not need seven perfect answers. You just need to go deeper than you did last time. Grab a notebook, ask the hard question, and let it take a while. This is the kind of slow work that quietly changes the shape of a life.
See you in the next one.
